Rosna Awang-Hashim is Professor of educational psychology and editor-in-chief of the Malaysian Journal of Learning & Instruction. Her research interests include human motivation, learning and teaching in higher education, school engagement, learner diversity, and construction and validation of tests in cognitive–affective domains. For the past two decades, she has been fascinated by what and why people are motivated to learn. Her research has been influenced by social constructivism and social cognitive theories of human motivation.She's also interested in latent model testing using structural equation modeling. Her passion is shared by the many post-graduate students that she has had the privilege to work with. She has engaged in more than 40 research projects, receiving grants from various agencies, including IRPA, MOSTE, MOHE, AKEPT, PEMADAM, Yayasan Johawaki and UUM. She has published more than 60 refereed papers and presented more than 100 papers at local and international conferences. Over the last 25 years at UUM, she had served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International), Director of the University Teaching and Learning Centre (UTLC), Dean of the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Education, founding Director of the Institute for Child and Adolescent Educational Advancement (IKRAK), and Self-Access Learning Project Director. Since 2010, she has been involved in the training of master trainers in the areas of learning engagement & motivation, and learner diversity for higher education academic leaders. In these ToT programmes at the Higher Education Leadership Academy of MoE (AKEPT), she and her colleagues integrate theory, research, and practice to empower them to improve student learning. At the national level, she is the Chair of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan’s Critical Agenda Project (CAP PSPTN) in Learning and Teaching, Cluster Secretary of the National Council of Professors (Education and Human Capital Development Cluster), and Vice President (II) of Malaysian Psychometrics Association (MPA).
